Maryland Medicaid: Plan ahead for the ePREP to MPRIME provider enrollment transition

What you need to know and do — and when

In October 2026, Maryland Medicaid will transition its provider enrollment system from ePREP to MPRIME. Once MPRIME goes live, providers will no longer use ePREP to submit new applications or update existing Medicaid enrollment information.

While we don’t expect this transition to disrupt your claims, payments or data, it’s important that you take the following actions to help avoid delays in enrollment and contracting:

  • Submit applications before the hold
  • Complete required revalidations
  • Prepare to set up your MPRIME account when the system is live

Keep reading to learn what you need to do before the transition is complete in October.

Temporary application hold periods

To support the transition, Maryland Medicaid will temporarily pause new enrollment activity in ePREP:

  • July 1, 2026: Application hold begins for moderate- and high-risk providers
  • Aug. 1, 2026: Application hold begins for limited-risk providers

Applications will be accepted until 1 day before each hold date.

During the hold:

  • You can’t submit new enrollments and most updates
  • You must wait to submit demographic changes, like address updates, until MPRIME is live
  • You must be actively enrolled to contract with MCOs

Act now before the application hold periods begin

To avoid delays or interruptions, you should:

  1. Submit pending applications or updates. Ensure you submit all new enrollments, revalidations or updates before your applicable deadline.
  2. Complete required revalidations. If you don’t complete required actions before the hold period, you may be suspended and unable to resolve issues until after MPRIME is fully transitioned.
  3. Monitor enrollment status. You’ll continue to receive notifications from ePREP regarding revalidation requirements or application outcomes.

What to expect when MPRIME is live

When MPRIME launches, your existing records will be preloaded in the new system, however, you must:

  • Create a new MPRIME account (This step is required. User profiles will not carry over automatically.)
  • Re-associate with their existing records to regain access and administrative rights

Review your SDAT identification number

Maryland Medicaid requires providers to obtain and maintain in good standing, a State Department of Assessments and Taxation (SDAT) identification number that appropriately identifies their organizational structure. Beginning with the MPRIME transition, if you don’t have an active SDAT identification number in good standing, you will not be able to submit applications.

Individual billing providers should also ensure their registered SDAT identification number begins with L.
