UnitedHealthcare Provider Portal enhancements

Changes coming to UnitedHealthcare Provider Portal access  Effective date
Action needed by UnitedHealthcare Provider Portal users: Add authenticator, a verified phone number or passkey, before March 6, 2025, to help ensure uninterrupted access. Immediately
General Effective date
Enhanced viewing features available in Report Center: Users can save up to 10 of their favorite/most-viewed reports by adding a star emblem to them. They also have the ability to view up to 6 of their recently accessed reports. As more reports are viewed, the oldest will fall off the list.

Extended search abilities help you find items quicker and easier in TrackIt: This enhancement adds a Date Range Search button that allows users to view items beyond 14 days on applicable tabs. They can search by date (30-, 60- and 90-day increments or custom date ranges) or column header. Depending on the tab, additional filter options are available. Because of this update, the Type to Refine and Search Extended Range links have gone away. However, the default view remains at 14 days for applicable tabs.

Update email notifications in TrackIt: Users can opt out of TrackIt notification emails at the Corp MPIN level within Profile and Settings. In addition to opting out, users can assign all notifications to go to the same email. Sept. 13, 2024

See and track required cultural competency courses: New Action Required tab in TrackIt helps users see required cultural competency courses, if available. Once training is completed, this tab will go away. Users can also access and track completion of required courses under the Tailored Training section of Profile & Settings.  July 1, 2024
Access Pre-Service Form within UnitedHealthcare commercial Appeals & Grievance form: This update allows all lines of business to access the pre-service form link within the results and details lists.  May 9, 2024
Documents and reporting  Effective date
Use Quick Search to search for documents older than 90 days: Users will find a search range next to the Quick Search fields that allows them to select any 90-day period up to 2 years in the past (defaulting to the past 90 days). This allows them to search for documents by Check ID, Claim Number, etc., without having to do an Advanced Search.  Nov. 22, 2024
Find documents more easily in Document Library: Enhanced Advanced Search function uses Member ID and date of birth (DOB) to determine whether a document is in Document Library. Search results include both partial and exact results to provide the user with the proper reasoning and next steps when a document cannot be found. Oct. 9, 2024
Paperless option available for out-of-network providers: When signing in to the UnitedHealthcare Provider Portal, out-of-network providers will have the option to opt in or out of paperless notifications.   Sept. 25, 2024
Update Review Decision letters notifications: Users can adjust their Document Delivery Settings to be notified when Review Decision letters are available in Document Library for the corresponding line of business Claim Letters folder. Aug. 9, 2024
Updated Document Library category names: UnitedHealthcare Medicare Advantage and commercial letter category names have been updated to be more consistent and help make documents easier to find. July 26, 2024 (Medicare)

Prior Authorization and Notification tool is integrated with Document Library: Users can access and view a prior authorization case through a direct link to the Prior Authorization tool. July 26, 2024
Eligibility Effective date
Enhanced eligibility searching capabilities: When performing an eligibility search, users can see the primary care provider (PCP) history for all members (when it exists) for all lines of business. In addition, a check has been implemented that prevents eligibility information from being viewed by subscribers on dependent-only plans. Nov. 18, 2024
Improved coordination of benefits (COB) information: Updates made to the Eligibility feature helps ensure that data for all lines of business is consistent in both meaning and structure so users can more easily review and understand members’ additional coverage or benefits.  Oct. 3, 2024
Claims and payments Effective date
Claims API helps manage pended claims: Users can create ticket(s) for a pended claim, update a pended claim, get pended claim ticket status and add claim attachments. Nov. 19, 2024
Patient Account Number added to TrackIt: Users can see the Patient Account Number within the Reconsiderations and Pended Tickets tabs within TrackIt.

View major claim milestones and corresponding dates: Enhancements allow users to see a more complete picture of their recent claim status history information. They can also click to view additional details about a specific milestone or related claim.  Oct. 23, 2024
Updated reconsideration/appeal workflow: This update lets users know whether a reconsideration or appeal is an available action and helps direct them to the next best step in the claim process. Users can take action at the line level versus the entire claim. Additionally, those who are prompted to complete a Waiver of Liability form will have the ability to eSign the form. June 5, 2024
Include supporting documentation with your professional/institutional claim submissions: Users can submit attachments for physician and facility claims in the UnitedHealthcare Provider Portal. May 13, 2024
Submit attachments for professional and facility/institutional claims: All states and lines of business can submit unsolicited attachments for original claims using the Claims tool in the UnitedHealthcare Provider Portal.  May 13, 2024
Prior authorizations Effective date
Quickly create cases for repeat providers: The Prior Authorization and Notification tool retains the information from the previously submitted case. When users select “Create a case for the same provider,” the tool populates this information; there’s no need to rekey the same information. Nov. 22, 2024
Document Library is integrated into the Prior Authorization and Notification tool: Users can view, print or download all clinical documents/letters associated with a prior authorization case directly from the tool.

Practice management Effective date
Enhanced roster submission tracking in My Practice Profile: We’ve added 2 statuses, Clarifications Pending and Closed with No Action, to help users better understand the status of their uploaded roster and add/term/change files. Nov. 25, 2024

Additional My Practice Profile submission statuses added to status tracker: The following 2 statuses, related to add/term/change and roster submission, were added to the Status Tracker:

  • Clarification is pending – outreach made to submitter with clarification
  • Closed with no actions – could not process file due to issue; need new file, or no action to clarification is pending

View and manage portal access more easily: We’ve made some updates to the Organization & Tax ID Access page found under Profile & Settings. These changes make it easier for users to see all their portal access, including any pending requests and access that has become inactive due to portal nonuse for 90 days, or deactivated by an administrator. Submit rosters through My Practice Profile: Groups with 10 or more providers can submit rosters through the tool using the “Roster Upload” tab instead of submitting by email. This feature includes an increase of the maximum file size to 20 MB. Users can track upload status by using the built-in “Submission status tracker” beginning the next business day.  Oct. 26, 2024
Updated My Practice Profile features: The delegated lock icon is removed, which allows delegated providers to submit demographic information for available fields. In addition, users can easily enter a primary and secondary specialty. Oct. 10, 2024
Review access levels of UnitedHealthcare Provider Portal users: Entitlement Review feature requires Primary Access Administrators to annually attest to the access levels of each user in their organization to ensure proper access levels are assigned or removed from each user.  July 25, 2024
Onboard Pro network request update: Users can submit requests to join our network for multiple states at the same time through Onboard Pro.    May 1, 2024
