May is Asian American and Pacific Islander Heritage Month

The Asian American and Pacific Islander (AAPI) community often face language and care barriers when trying to access health care services. We’ve created several resources for you and your practice to help address some of these concerns.

Help reduce language and care barriers

To help you and your practice address language barriers, we created the I Speak cardopen_in_new. This serves as a resource for your team to help facilitate interpreter services.

Southeast Asian Americans are also disproportionately diagnosed with hepatitis B, cervical cancer, depression, PTSD and anxiety.1 These diagnoses are attributed to traumatic experiences with war and resettlement, low socioeconomic status and language barriers.

You can help address these care barriers by completing our Healing Racial Trauma Through Somatic Anti-Racism Practicesopen_in_new course. When you complete the course, you’ll earn 1.5 CME credits.

This course will go over trauma management therapies and practices, along with how to implement somatic skills to increase awareness of difficult racial and cultural situations and manage the associated stressful responses.
