Texas: New Trauma TALKS course now available
A new training course titled Could it Be Trauma?, is now available to help behavioral health professionals identify different types of trauma and strategies for supporting trauma survivors. The course is taught by professional psychologists and a trauma survivor and provided by the Chester Street Foundation. Psychologists, social workers and counselors who complete the training can earn 3.00 continuing education (CE) credits.
Course overview
This training is a 3-hour, self-paced course designed to help professionals recognize trauma’s effects on children and help them onto a path to healing. The course includes:
- 3 training videos, exercises and quizzes
- 2 presentation guides and quick-reference tool
- A professional development certificate
Upon completing this training, participants will be able to:
- Name the 3 types of trauma
- Identify 3 ways traumatic stress shows up in a child’s behavior
- Describe the kinds of developmental impairments children may suffer because of trauma
- Name 3 paths trauma survivors can take to recovery
- Identify strategies to help children promote an inner sense of safety
- Describe various ways to apply these strategies
Who should take this training?
The course is applicable to anyone working directly or indirectly with children and youth.
