New York Medicaid: Prenatal and postpartum services require Category II CPT® codes
For UnitedHealthcare Community Plan of New York health care providers
Reminder – You must submit claims using a Category II CPT code for each prenatal or postpartum service. Include 1 of the following Category II codes as applicable:
- 0500F – Initial prenatal visit
- 0502F – Subsequent prenatal visit
- 0503F – Postpartum visit
Use the Category II CPT codes in addition to global or bundled bill codes.
Why Category II CPT codes are required
Submitting claims with Category II CPT codes helps ensure compliance with New York State Department of Health prenatal and postpartum guidelines.
Submitting a claim
You can submit a claim through the UnitedHealthcare Provider Portal:
- Go to UHCprovider.com and click Sign In at the top-right corner
- Enter your One Healthcare ID
- In the menu, select Claims & Payments > Submit a Claim
- Complete the fields, attach supporting documents and submit
